How to Clean Your Cork Mat

Please, NEVER FOLD YOUR CORK MAT

ALWAYS ROLL YOUR MAT LOOSELY WITH THE CORK SIDE OUT

When cleaning your mat, it helps to let it dry in the sun (It softens the mat) BUT NEVER leave the mat in the sun. It will damage the mat!

Thanks to the natural antimicrobial and antibacterial qualities of cork, keeping your mat clean is a lot easier than a regular yoga mat. Any bacteria that does make its way onto your mat will not be able to live there. With very minimal upkeep, it is easy to enjoy a fresh smelling surface every time you roll your cork yoga mat out.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CLEAN MY MAT?

It comes down to personal preference.
If you are an at-home yogi, it is easy to get away with a quick clean every two to three weeks.
As an adventurer, you may want to clean your mat more often due to dirt and oil build up. We recommend a wipe down once a week in this case.
If you are the type to get deep into your practice and sweat enough, it is a good idea to give your mat a quick wipe afterward to remove surface dirt and oil before rolling your mat up.
Cork does not absorb sweat or water…it actually dries quickly.

HOW DO I CLEAN MY CORK YOGA MAT?

It is simple. To clean the cork surface of your yoga mat, take a damp cloth and wipe away any dirt or natural body oil from your mat.
For a deeper clean, add a touch of gentle soap or essential oil and give it a good rub (Do not use a rough surface like a scrubbing sponge as this can damage the surface).
Afterwards, wipe down the surface with a dry cloth or let your mat air dry before rolling it back up.
